side note: this is going to be my journal soo feel free to skim/read what you want :P
bonjour!
so this blog will possibly have many typos as i am typing on a french keyboard and all the letters are in different spots :/
here is my life in france for the last.... 8ish hours
flying out was pretty intimidating, realizing i was actually leaving for good, for a long time, for somewhere i know nothing about. i realized i didnt plan where to meet my friend lauren at the airport and that i looked very american and alone :/ quick ps: this keyboard really sucks
within the first few minutes away from my parents i had already told someone off because they were trying to say i was going to be hated and:: well the kid thought i didnt know any french or anything about france or the hate between french and america:: so i made him look like an idiot by explaining ill be there 6 months whether the french like it or not::: so then i left st louis haha another ps i cant find the period so ill be using :::: for dot dot dot
atlanta flight was ok:: was in the farthest backseat by the window and of course next to the crying baby that was getting its diaper changed::: in the seat:: during the flight:: yeah; it was a group of hicks talking about watchin out for "japs and anyone with a dot on their head", their encounters with crocodiles, and protests to dunkin donuts, needless to say i was pretty excited to get out of the us at this point
had no time before hopping directly onto the paris flight; sat between two older guys; one english the other french, and behind were two "bri-ish" girls, flight was good; first sad n scary:: but then cool with the tv french music videos and old episodes of friends:: dinner was pasta and i ordered in french for the guy next to me:: yeah im cool :P then sleeppptttt
the old french guy next to me was nice to wake me up for breakfast (in which again i ordered for the english dude) and THEN got the guts to talk to the old french guy:: first i thought my french was sucking as i tried to ask if he was from paris:: then it was just that he is really hard of hearing:::: phew!!! it was cool talked about our lives n homes and visits but pretty simple convo, he was wanting to try to remember his english but wasnt working, none the less cool
airport::: immediately france tried to reject me:: no luggage:: then one bag:: but not the other:: so here i am CDG airport with some chick and a czech guy trying to figure out of the workers were just on strike for a min or if they were really lost:: in fact the czech guy was convinced they were just smoking, eating cheese, or:: smoking but eventually , as 1000 bags were lost the day before we decided ours were lost too
thank god i had lauren (my frenchy friend from loyola who is keeping me the first week) was there and could help take care of all the legistics because my lost baggage/insurance vocab isnt too up to date:: i know valise and perdu (bag and lost)::
so whatever:: lauren brought me croissants et pain au chocolat from her favorite boulangerie!!!! yuuummm all was better: she lives in a cute town outside paris with skinny streets and brick houses and gates to each house:: yeah friggin cute, family and house are also very nice!! made me realll coffee (just espresso) and had quiche and salade for lunch: best quiche yet (travis and amber yes:: way better than that restaurant we had)
went to the mall to get me a phone but didnt have euros yet so instead went to the grocery store and OH MY GOSH it was the best ever::: fiirrrstt of all::: i felt like Elf on the escalators, they are not steps it just turns into a big like, moving walkway but slanted down/up, and seeing all the cute french labels just made my day; THEN we bought a bûche du noël:: dont worry i have pictures but:: just awesome
now playing kenect or whatever the new xbox thing is with her brothers and finally feeling the jetlag:: kind of dying but wanted to get this down before napping::
oh france, this should be fun
So what if I am the only person who thinks this is cool, interesting, and funny. They will find your bag...they always do! If not, screw it, this is why you have insurance and then you get to get your shop on! :) bisous!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Sounds like an adventurous first day!
